Take Ten - 26th January 2012
Take Ten is back on 23rd February 2012, at the Cumberland Arms, James Place Street, off Byker Bank, Newcastle , NE6 1LD with yet another stonking line up.
All the way from Leeds we have the spoken word marvel that is Hayden Cohen. He combines gentle rantings and musings about life and love with some darn good guitar playing. He has a knack of putting you at ease while reciting some cool original poetry and tunes. From nearer home we have the bard of Middlesborough, Andy Willoughby. This man has so many accolades to his name, it’s hard to pick one. He lectures, he publishes, he writes, he performs. He is legend. And he’s coming to Take Ten!
Add to the mix some of the cream of the North East poetry scene – the wondrous, hat wearing, Jenni Pascoe, host of Jibba Jabba and multi slam winner. Joining her is multi-talented Steve Urwin, poet, diarist, author of Shades of Grey, recently published by Red Squirrel Press. And Claire Morgan - spoken word artist, performer, ventriloquist, character comic and general weird person with a sensible streak, as well as Artistic Director for Monkfish Productions.
Let’s not forget Ian Horn, ‘the footy poet’, the Durham lad who has performed in all over UK and in Europe, including the prestigious Edinburgh Festival and Glastonbury Festival, at Take Ten for the first time. And there is also Kevan Ogden, a rhythmical and comical poet who adds a soupcon of sadness to his work, and the beautifully sensual Danielle Quist who will also be gracing the Take Ten stage for the first time.
We also have music from the exotically named Emilie le Bold, with her beautifully haunting, stunning songs.
Don’t miss it – for the last time, yes, folks you read it right, we have the return of our host, Poetry Jack, who will take this opportunity to bring some of her new poetry to Take Ten.
See you there x
